Procurement Officer

The Farm Procurement Officer is responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the timely supply of agricultural inputs, farm equipment, livestock feed, veterinary supplies, and operational materials required for farm operations. The role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards, supplier performance, inventory availability, and compliance with company procurement policies.   • Plan and procure agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, livestock feed, veterinary medicines, irrigation materials, and farming equipment.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, delivery performance, and service standards.
  • Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and procurement documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Coordinate with farm managers and department heads to understand operational requirements and forecast purchasing needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Track purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials to farm locations.
  • Verify delivered goods against purchase orders and coordinate with warehouse personnel for inspection and receipt.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to shortages, damaged goods, delays, and quality concerns.
  • Maintain an approved supplier database and conduct periodic supplier performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with Finance regarding invoices, payment processing, and budget monitoring.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supply availability to optimize procurement strategies.
  • Prepare procurement reports, spending analyses, supplier performance reports, and savings initiatives.
  • Support annual budgeting by providing procurement forecasts and cost estimates.
  • Promote sustainable and ethical procurement practices.
  • Perform any other procurement-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, CPP) is an advantage.
  • 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably within agriculture, farming, livestock, or agribusiness operations.
  • Experience purchasing agricultural inputs, farming equipment, or livestock-related materials is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software is an advantage.
