Agriculture Assistant

The Agriculture Assistant supports the day-to-day agricultural operations by assisting with crop cultivation, irrigation, planting, harvesting, fertilization, pest control, and general farm maintenance. The role ensures that agricultural activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company procedures and agricultural best practices.   • Assist in land preparation, planting, transplanting, and harvesting activities.
  • Support irrigation operations and monitor water distribution across farm areas.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under the guidance of supervisors and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in monitoring crop health and report any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
  • Perform routine maintenance of crops, including weeding, pruning, thinning, and mulching.
  • Operate and maintain basic agricultural tools and equipment safely.
  • Assist with greenhouse, nursery, and field operations when required.
  • Help collect agricultural data such as planting dates, crop growth, yields, and weather observations.
  • Support inventory management by monitoring farming materials, fertilizers, seeds, and tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of agricultural work areas and storage facilities.
  • Follow biosecurity, environmental, and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in harvesting, sorting, grading, packaging, and preparing agricultural products for storage or transportation.
  • Report equipment faults, irrigation issues, and operational challenges to supervisors.
  • Assist in implementing sustainable farming practices and conservation initiatives.
  • Perform other agricultural duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Agricultural training is an advantage).
  • Certificate or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in farming, crop production, greenhouse operations, or agricultural fieldwork.
  • Experience with irrigation systems and basic farm equipment is an advantage.
