Veterinary Doctor – Exotic Animals & Farm Management

Exotic Animal Veterinary Care

• Conduct consultations, examinations, diagnosis, and treatment for exotic animal patients.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and preventive healthcare programs.
• Perform medical procedures and minor surgical interventions within areas of expertise.
• Advise pet owners on nutrition, husbandry, preventive care, and animal welfare.
• Maintain accurate medical records and monitor patient progress.
• Coordinate with other veterinarians and hospital staff on specialized cases.

Farm Veterinary Management

• Conduct scheduled farm visits and monitor the overall health and welfare of farm animals.
• Perform routine health checks, vaccinations, disease prevention, and parasite control.
• Diagnose and manage medical cases and coordinate emergency interventions.
• Establish and supervise preventive veterinary care protocols.
• Ensure proper biosecurity, hygiene, and animal welfare standards.
• Monitor animal living conditions and recommend improvements where required.

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate the farm team responsible for daily animal care.
• Assign responsibilities and monitor the completion of daily tasks.
• Train and guide farm staff on animal handling, feeding, hygiene, and basic health monitoring.
• Monitor team performance and ensure accountability and teamwork.
• Maintain effective communication between the farm team and veterinary hospital.
• Identify operational challenges and recommend improvements to farm management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
• Valid veterinary license or eligibility to obtain the relevant professional license.
• Proven experience in veterinary practice, specifically treating exotic animals.
• Experience handling different exotic species, including birds, reptiles, small mammals, and other non-traditional pets.
• Previous experience in farm veterinary practice or animal facility management is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership and staff supervision.
• Strong knowledge of animal welfare, preventive medicine, disease control, and biosecurity.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple locations.
