Civil Superintendent

• Ensure all HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment), quality, and technical contractual requirements are implemented by the EPC Contractor and subcontractors on site.
• Coordinate closely with the CTR counterpart to achieve safety, quality, and project progress requirements.
• Oversee construction activities, ensuring the contractor provides qualified personnel, appropriate tools, and complies with project objectives, specifications, standards, procedures, and execution plans.
• Supervise civil works, including earthworks, structural works, and concrete works, and review/approve civil materials, concrete mix designs, borrow pits, and concrete batch plant quality.
• Direct site activities such as setting out surveys, excavation, subgrade preparation, fill material selection, and compaction, following approved plans and technical specifications.
• Interpret soil classification and geotechnical reports to ensure proper construction practices.
• Guarantee strict adherence to safety precautions and compliance with quality standards on all construction work.
• Monitor construction schedules, understand critical path activities and key milestones, and coordinate with the Construction Manager and Deputy Construction Manager to implement mitigation plans.
• Review and approve construction method statements for earthworks, crossings, concrete works, and structural works.
• Participate in constructability and technical design reviews to identify optimization opportunities.
• Provide technical assistance to resolve construction-related issues on site.
• Mentor junior staff and site teams to improve performance and technical capability.
• Maintain coordination with project stakeholders and address community-related matters via company and contractor community relations teams when required.
• Ensure all work complies with local and international standards, statutory regulations, and project specifications, acting as the management team’s representative and primary point of oversight on site.

Requirements

• 10 years of pipeline construction experience within cross-functional oil & gas pipeline project teams supporting field engineering, interface, pipeline construction, and commissioning readiness.
• 7+ years of experience in a similar position.
• Excellent knowledge of civil works, earthworks, infrastructures, engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of fundamental civil engineering requirements and basic understanding of other engineering disciplines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
• Experience with SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations).
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural business environment.
• Fluent in Arabic (mother tongue) and English, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of local and international standards as well as statutory and regulatory specifications.
• Experienced in reviewing and approving construction method statements, earthwork method statements, and material submittals until project handover.
• Expert in civil works supervision, including civil material approvals, concrete mix designs, concrete batch plant quality checks, and borrow pit approvals.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry, specifically pipeline projects, and comfortable with the use of construction tools.
