Provides technical oversight for the construction, inspection, and maintenance of storage tanks, pressure vessels, and mechanical systems at oil & gas facilities. Supervises field activities to ensure compliance with API 650/653, ASME Section VIII, and project specifications—from tank foundation preparation to hydrostatic testing. Interprets isometric drawings, verifies welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and manages non-destructive testing (NDT) for critical joints. Whether overseeing floating roof installations or coordinating refractory work in fired heaters, the engineer’s onsite decision-making ensures mechanical integrity while meeting aggressive construction schedules in live hydrocarbon environments.
Acts as the liaison between engineering teams and construction crews, resolving technical discrepancies and implementing approved field changes. Possesses hands-on expertise in tank construction sequences, corrosion protection systems (cathodic protection, linings), and heavy lifting operations for vessel placement. Conducts daily safety audits, monitors environmental controls for confined space work, and compiles mechanical completion dossiers for client handover. Troubleshoots fabrication issues under field conditions to ensure the quality and longevity of storage and processing assets in refineries, terminals, and upstream facilities.
