The Safety Officer implements and monitors occupational health and safety programs across power generation, renewable energy, and hydrocarbon facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001). The professional conducts risk assessments, audits permit-to-work systems, and investigates incidents to identify root causes and preventive measures. The role involves delivering safety inductions, inspecting fall protection systems, and verifying lockout/tagout procedures for electrical and mechanical isolations. Whether monitoring confined space entries at solar farms or enforcing explosive atmosphere protocols in refineries, the officer’s vigilance prevents workplace injuries and process safety events in high-risk energy environments. The Safety Officer serves as the site’s safety culture ambassador, analyzing leading indicators (near misses, safety observations) to proactively address hazards. The position requires expertise in energy-specific risks—from arc flash boundaries to hydrogen sulfide exposure—and emergency response coordination for scenarios like turbine fires or battery storage thermal runaway. The professional maintains safety equipment inventories, calibrates gas detection systems, and prepares compliance reports for regulatory agencies. The officer’s ability to balance operational demands with uncompromising safety standards directly protects both personnel and critical energy infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
  • NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety certification
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial safety within energy, oil & gas, or power sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001, and local regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience with permit-to-work systems, LOTO, and confined space safety
  • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills
  • Familiarity with energy-specific hazards such as arc flash, H₂S, and explosive atmospheres
  • Proficient in safety reporting, audits, and training delivery
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to promote a positive safety culture
