SpecialismProject Management / Operations / Strategy
The Machinist specializes in fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision metal components essential for heavy-duty oilfield equipment and rotating machinery. Operating advanced machine tools including lathes, milling machines, and CNC equipment, the professional interprets complex engineering drawings to produce shafts, valves, flanges, and other mission-critical parts with exacting tolerances. The role requires expertise in metallurgy, cutting tool selection, and precision measurement techniques to ensure components meet strict API and ASME specifications. Whether machining new parts from raw stock or refurbishing worn equipment, the Machinist's work directly impacts operational reliability and safety in high-pressure environments.
Beyond the workshop, the Machinist collaborates with maintenance teams to diagnose mechanical failures and determine optimal repair strategies for damaged components. The position demands meticulous attention to detail when working with exotic alloys and hardened materials used in drilling, pumping, and processing applications. With certifications in welding, nondestructive testing, or CNC programming, the Machinist bridges the gap between design and functionality—often creating custom solutions for obsolete or specialized equipment. The professional's ability to work to micron-level precision under tight deadlines makes them invaluable for minimizing downtime and extending the service life of critical assets in corrosive, high-wear operating conditions.
1-3 years of experience as a machinist in oilfield, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders)
Strong knowledge of metallurgy, cutting tool selection, and machining of exotic alloys
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
Familiarity with precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
Understanding of API, ASME, and other relevant industry standards
Welding and/or CNC programming certifications (preferred)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities under tight deadlines
