The Lifting Appointed Person is a critical role responsible for overseeing and planning all lifting operations to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency. They assess risks, develop method statements, and authorize lift plans in accordance with industry regulations and company standards. By coordinating with crane operators, riggers, and site supervisors, they ensure that equipment is properly inspected, loads are correctly calculated, and all personnel adhere to strict safety protocols. Their expertise minimizes hazards and prevents accidents during complex lifting operations in challenging environments. With a deep understanding of load dynamics, crane capabilities, and regulatory requirements, they act as the primary authority for approving and supervising lifts. They conduct pre-lift briefings, monitor operations in real-time, and intervene if procedures deviate from the plan. Their meticulous planning and attention to detail help maintain smooth project execution while safeguarding personnel and assets. Whether working on offshore platforms, refineries, or construction sites, their leadership ensures that lifting activities are carried out safely and efficiently, reducing downtime and enhancing operational reliability.
  • 5–7 years of experience in lifting operations, with at least 3 years in an appointed person or supervisory role
  • Recognized Lifting Appointed Person certification (e.g., CPCS, LOLER, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of lifting regulations, load dynamics, and crane operating principles
  • Proven ability to develop, review, and approve lift plans and method statements
  • Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams in high-risk environments
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, hazard identification, and safety compliance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in challenging environments such as offshore platforms, refineries, and heavy construction sites
