The Foreman – Instrument & Controls supervises the installation, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring all activities comply with engineering specifications, project schedules, and safety standards. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of control systems, including transmitters, valves, PLCs, and SCADA systems. The foreman coordinates daily tasks, allocates resources efficiently, monitors crew performance, and enforces strict adherence to health and safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. They also conduct toolbox talks and provide on-the-job guidance to ensure technical accuracy and quality workmanship.
Beyond direct supervision, the foreman serves as the main point of contact between instrument technicians, engineers, and project management. They review control system drawings, wiring diagrams, and loop schematics to verify correct installation and functionality. The foreman plays a crucial role in troubleshooting field issues, supporting pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, and overseeing quality inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent)
3-5 years experience in instrumentation and control systems, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Strong understanding of PLC, SCADA, transmitters, and control valves
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and loop diagrams
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
